It is time for another Best Friend Adventure Day! This time we explored Somerset County. Our first stop was the Somerset Historical Center. We were excited to see the 1830s Farmstead because we thought we were only getting to visit a covered bridge.
Here is Bekah at the Walter’s Mills Covered Bridge from 1859. We have a thing for covered bridges, check out last years adventure
Here.
I had to be different and stand on the bench…
then jump off. Don’t hold the out of focus image against Bekah, she is a writer not a photographer. :)
The Adam Miller farmstead, circa 1830s with the farm kitchen to the right.
Our second stop was at the nearby Queecreek mine rescue site.
Here is
the rescue shaft where the 9 miners emerged from the dark, cold mine 240 feet below after 77 hours of frigid darkness in July of 2002.
Bekah on the 2nd rescue shaft.
Check back soon for our next historical stop.
